Episode 7: Grace Show Notes
Grace: charis (greek): That which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness, good will, lovingkindness, favor; thanks.Freebie: If you're interested in finding out what specific words mean from the Older and Newer Testaments in the Scriptures, I've found Blue Letter Bible to be an amazing resource, totally free and easy to use.112 Eatery: This is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. It has an utterly creative, delicious menu, and the atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. It's right downtown, and you simply have to go there. If you do, make sure to get the 112 cheeseburger. It will change your life.To Parents of Small Children: Let Me Be the One to Say it Out Loud. I wrote this post in March of 2013, when I was so foggy with fatigue that I couldn't think straight. I wrote it out of a very raw place, so that other parents who felt like I felt might know that they weren't alone. It has over a million views. It was a piece of grace for parents everywhere who feel overwhelmed, under-resourced, and like it's never going to get better. The Parable of the Prodigal Son is found in Luke 15. Try reading it in The Message translation so that you might read it in a new way. It is one of Jesus' most famous, and I think, least understood teachings. The hidden treasure in it is that the good father shows grace to both sons, neither of whom got it right or did anything to deserve it.2 Corinthians 9:8: And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that at all times, in all things, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.Listen to Stefan Van Voorst's Music here.Click here to buy Abba's Child by Brennan Manning, the best book I have ever read on the subject of grace. And If you'd like to read the first two chapters of my new book, Beginnings, please click here.
