Shining Like the Sun: Seven Mindful Practices for Rekindling Your Faith is a nine-part series based on the book of the same title. It’s a free resource for pastors and nonprofit leaders who want to guide the people they lead on a journey of rediscovering God through seven mindful practices: attentiveness, ordinariness, simplicity, rhythm, conversation, delight, and restoration. You’ll receive a leader’s guide with nine sermon outlines as well as nine discussion guides for groups.

Find out more about all seven practices by watching the short video below:

Part One - Finding God Where You Are: Understanding mindfulness and introducing the seven practices.

Part Two - Attentiveness: Learning to return to here so you can find God waiting for you with love in the eternal now.

Part Three - Ordinariness: Learning to return to who you are and away from who you think you should be.

Part Four - Simplicity: Learning to give unambiguous yeses and unapologetic noes in ways that leave margin and space.

Part Five - Rhythm: Learning to hear and play your part in the song the universe is singing.

Part Six: Conversation: Learning to ask questions that continually expand how you see and understand the world.

Part Seven - Delight: Learning to fully receive whatever  is in front of you.

Part Eight - Restoration: Learning to welcome the weakness, fragility, and loneliness in yourself and others for mutual healing.

Part Nine - Finding God Wherever You Go: Reviewing the seven practices and putting them in the context of the Hero’s Journey.

Shining Like the Sun offers seven mindful practices - attentiveness, ordinariness, simplicity, rhythms, conversation, delight, and restoration - that will help you experience God as a living reality in your mind, heart, and body, and deep within your soul. Through illuminating stories and tangible suggestions for embodying each practice, you will discover ways to encounter God in ordinary moments and come alive.

What Others are Saying:

“If you miss the childlike wonder that once intuited there was more to life than meets the eye, commune with these pages and you just might find your soul.”

- Phileena Heuertz, founding partner, Gravity: A Center for Contemplative Activism; author of Pilgrimage of a Soul

“Wiens circles round questions that have intrigued people for millennia. He takes his faith as seriously as his doubt, and offers practices that exercise both body and belief.”

- Pádraig Ó Tuama, author of In the Shelter; inaugural poet laureate of The On Being Project
