Edward Vidaurre grew up in East Los Angeles in the 1970’s and 80’s, until his mom moved him sixty miles north up to Oxnard to finish High School, fearing otherwise he’d get killed. Edward is one of the young men that Father Gregory Boyle writes about in his breathtaking book, Tattoos on the Heart.

Edward Vidaurre is the 2018/19 McAllen, Texas, Poet Laureate. He has written five books of poetry: Ramona and rumi: Love in the Time of Oligarchy: & unedited Necessary Poems; I Took My Barrio on a Road Trip; Chicano Blood Transfusion; Twenty: In Memoriam; and Insomnia. His most recent book is entitled Jazzhouse.
