Genderfull is a one-day retreat for misfits, mystics, ministry folks, and more hosted by Erin Lane and Steve Wiens at Awaken Covenant Community in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 12th, 2016, from 9am to 4pm.
Erin and Steve met through a kind book editor and had their first conversation when Steve hosted Erin on his podcast. (Take a listen to the podcast to get a feel for what to expect from Genderfull). They had a rambunctious conversation about the image of God – the expansive, mysterious God who is fully masculine and fully feminine – and how that image has been formed and distorted in them over the years. They had so much fun – Steve with his playful approach to Scripture, Erin with her imaginative take on theology – they immediately began dreaming of doing a live event for anyone who feels left out, boxed in, or just plain bored with the current conversation on gender. And so Genderfull was born.
Genderfull will be an interactive retreat where we’ll discover together how we were created in God’s genderfull image from the beginning of our biblical story, how that fullness has been named (or not) in our histories – both personal and communal, and how the genderfull body of Christ is our best hope for finding wholeness. Individual journaling, group sharing, and co-creative teaching will shape our time together.
Please join us. Our conversation will be better for it.
