I love words and I scatter them everywhere, hoping they might set people free.
I am married to a wise woman who knows how to laugh. I am a pastor at a church I founded, a quirky community of people that I love. My first book, Beginnings, imagines the seven days of creation as a process that is reflected in all of the beginnings in our actual lives, especially the ones that start in inky blackness. My second book – Whole: Restoring What Is Broken in Me, You and the Rest of the World, uses five of the Bible’s most delicious questions to find out how to live a more satisfying life. And I host a weekly podcast called This Good Word, where I explore what’s holy about our humanity, one word at a time.
I’m working on my third book now, Shining Like the Sun: Seven Mindful Practices to Rekindle Your Faith (Fortress Press), which set to release in the spring of 2020.
